“Gunny” is a 2024 Bay Dun stud colt born on March 20, 2024. He is sired by Bruces Playgun Boy, a son of JK Colonel who goes back to WC Colonel Chexwood. WC Colonel Chexwood was an outstanding, cowhorse-bred stallion who was in training to campaign as a major league reined cowhorse before an injury ended his career.

WC Colonel Chexwood was sired by AQHA Performance Champion Tuf N Busy (AQHA Show H&P-250+, Superiors In: Reining, Heading & Heeling; ROM Performance; AQHA Points in: Halter, Reining, Working cow horse, Calf roping, Heading & Heeling, NRHA money earner). Bruces Playgun Boy goes back to NRCHA and NCHA legends Bueno Chex and Colonel Freckles. On Bruces Playgun Boy’s dams’ side he goes back to the NCHA legend Playgun.

Gunny’s dam, Sylish Chexy, is a granddaughter of AQHA stallion, Playin Stylish, LTE $118,764, NCHA horse of the year. An all-time leading reined cow horse sire and maternal grandsire, with progeny earnings of more than $4.2 million. She also goes back to NCHA stallion, Boon Bar.

On her dam’s side, Sylish Chexy goes back to Heeling stallion, Poco Tivio Chex (108.5 AQHA points, Superior Heeling). Poco Tivio Chex also goes back to Poco Tivio a son of Poco Bueno, who won $11,188.39 in NCHA, Top Ten World Show AQHA Champion, NCHA money-earner, Halter Point Earner, ROM Performance Awards: COA, Bronze & Superior Performance Offspring. Poco Tivio is a full brother to Poco Lena and Poco Champ; AQHA Champion Offspring ROM Performance Offspring NCHA Money-earners & Halter Point Earners.

We purchased Gunny and his dam this summer. Gunny has 3 brands on him. On his left hip he carries his breeders brand, which is a S inside of a U. He has 2 brands on his hind end. The left side is a 2 over 7, which is his dam's number, she carries the same one on her left side. On his right side is a 2 over 4, which is for the year he was born in.

His sire is 5 panel N/N but his dam is untested. Her paperwork is being sent in and color corrected, once the papers are back, she will be panel tested and his status will be updated.
